a poll on the country in a lot of ways. so second, if we had a grand bargain on energy, how to exploit the bounty of natural gas in particular in the environmentally safe and sustainable way on the national basis i think those two things together would have a huge impact. so the question is how close are we to that? and i was saying about the middle east but it may apply to american politics is all important politics happens the morning after the morning after. so, i think -- hearing talking about the election. i don't know how the election is going to come up and make no predictions but i do ask myself if romney gets smashed i don't think the political problem is we have a center left problem and we have a far right party that is a structural problem. the republican party has gone nuts in my view. they've been at war -- there's been a simultaneous -- they've been simultaneously at war with physics at the same time. on the deficit and biological l2 mac, some of them for sure. so the question to me is what happens the morning after this election if romney loses. he wasn't far right enou

program is for peaceful purposes like energy and medical research. the united nations nuclear watch dog reports that because iran will not fully cooperate, it cannot confirm that. jonathan hunt joins us live. big surprise, the iranian president railing against israel, the same as we heard last week at the u.n. >>jonathan: picking up where he left off in his speech to the u.n. general assembly, saying that iran essentially has nothing whatever to fear from potential israeli attack against the nuclear facility. he has said repeatedly there is no excuse whatever for israel to attack iran but he says if israel does, this is only one outcome that will take place. >> listen. >> the iranian nation knows what it has to do. the iranian nation has never been invaded and never attacked others. however, it has been an excellent defender. it has defended so invaders are less for dreadful. >>jonathan: president president ahmadinejad has repeated that iran's nuclear program is purely for peaceful purposes and has defended, again, iran's right to pursue what he calls "nuclear energy." trace? >>trace: w

in green energy companies like solyndra and test lot. a friend of mine said he doesn't dislike picking winners and losers, he likes losers. [laughter] [cheers] [applause] >> i believe in strengthening our military. [cheers] [applause] we have seen it for four years. we have seen a number of people on food stamps go from 32 million up to 37 million. 15 million people have fallen into poverty and need food stamps. twenty-three million americans looking for jobs. we have had 43 straight months of unemployment above 8% read what does the president have to say about this? he says forward. i think forewarned is a better term. [laughter] [applause] [cheers] >> we listen to the president at his convention a few weeks ago. no new ideas. he is out of ideas and excuses and on november 6, you're going to put him out of office. up under the obama administration. energy prices are through the roof due to the poor energy policies and weakness of this administration. biden was right. >> the president doesn't cause gas prices. if that was the case why didn't you applaud him when gas prices were going down. he has not raised taxes. he lowered taxes on working families and small businesses. too joe biden is talking about the record of the obama-biden administration saying they are buried. jamie: will the president have tee dress this tonight? will he have to talk about why the middle class was -- will he distance himself from his policies playing a role. >> he may have to put context into biden's statement. >> why is it that whenever this administration, whether it's the president or joe biden actually tells the truth. they tell you what's on their mind like the president saying that the private sector is doing fine or telling entrepreneurs like me that we didn't build our business. why is it when they tell the truth suddenly they are taken out of context. >> there you go again to quote one of our great republican

of the crowd, and i felt an energy that i've never felt or experienced in my entire life, and it -- it was what dreams are made of, and mine came true last night for that moment while i was in there, and i just -- i had a blast. >> did you get much advance notice that you were going to get up there, or is one of those deals, hey, greenberg, let's go? >> yeah, pretty much. i had two outs to get ready. i remember john buck said, hey, do you want to go hit a little, and it was like i've got to get my helmet, i don't know. >> yeah. >> and so once i got everything all set and got my helmet and took a few swings. that's all the time you need. mentally i was prepared for it. i was following the game and knew what was going on. when my number was called, i was red. >> we're looking at some of the batting practice, hit one out during bp, not uncommon. had to be a big confidence boost. there you go, and get a shot and who you have to go up against, r.a. dickey, could get the cy young, all-star players thinking what am i going to do against this knuckleballer? take us through the at-bat. >> yeah, i mean,

was wondering if you thought it was the way they came out and the energy that they had or if what they're saying has as big an effect as the perception of how they're doing and how excited they are to be there. >> well the first observation is clearly aarp is lowered because it's membership age. i think the body language is important and i think that the president hurt himself with that. i don't think that the romney side should think that he's going to be like that in the next debate. i think they'll look at that and think that's not what we wanted to project. but at the same time, you can go back to the tape and break it down like a football game, romney had a lot of good points that he got across and i thought from a policy standpoint, i thought it was pretty rich. when people are complaining that this got too much into policy and too deep in the woods, well usually the complaint is there's not enough substance, it's too style oriented. so i think from that standpoint, it was a pretty good debate for the american people to see a lot. the one difference i think was that clearly mitt romney cam
